Aiming higher than most Investigation Discovery fare, "The Injustice Files" delves into cold cases from the civil rights era to Today, when crimes against African-Americans in places like Mississippi, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, and Tennessee had a way of going unsolved or racist criminals never prosecuted. Filmmakers Keith Beauchamp and Rev. Dr. Franklyn V. Beckles, Jr., aren't exactly TV naturals are bigtime celebrities, but their stories are both compelling and frustrating -- a look at a Southern legacy that still exists and many would just as soon forget and keep covering up, is appropriately timed for Black History Month. "Somewhere out there, killers are still free," Beauchamp and Beckles said in their first of three hourlong installments derived from the FBI's Civil Rights-Era Cold Case Initiative, which was introduced four years ago to look into racially motivated killings that occurred before 1970. Given the passage of time, cultivating leads is difficult, with one key suspect in the first hour having passed away years after the slaying, still a free man.
Rev. Beckles (who performed a similar function in the documentary "The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till") begins here with Wharlet Jackson, an officer in the Natchez, Miss., NAACP who was murdered by a car bomb after accepting a promotion at the Armstrong Tire and Rubber Factory in 1967. In addition to investigators and Jackson's now-grown children, the filmmaker confronts a former Ku Klux Klan member who was suspected in the case.
Other stories, which both occurred a few years earlier, include an attack on two black deputy sheriffs in Louisiana and an activist found dead in Alabama.

Beckles already runs a day care, ministry and learning center out of his Church called the Children's Christian Center.
Now he's decided a soup kitchen is the next best way to help the Augusta community.
"They have to have a need and a wanting to participate in a Christian atmosphere. We give them food talk to them and we give them a little bit of the word, we pray with them," Beckles said.
He'll also feed the homeless from his Church November 29th. His Church and Private School is located at 3725 Old McDuffie Road.

Despite the desire to bring closure to these crimes, the real value in "Injustice Files" lies in recounting that terrible history, through archival footage and first-person testimony. And while the program -- which comes from CBS News' CBS EYE Prods., under "48 Hours" producers Susan Zirinsky and Adrian Green-- features some of the same overproduced elements as that franchise, it's handled seriously enough to treat the material with the gravity it deserves.
Although ID has boosted its ratings with tabloid titles like "Hookers: Saved on the Strip" and "Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry?" -- and provided critics easy punch lines in the process -- to lump this show in with those wouldn't do it justice.

Dr. Franklyn V. Beckles, Jr. (Currently a Published Book Author and Independant Filmmaker), -Violating his civil rights, and telling jailers to keep him in jail, despite bail! Each time Rackliff was asked about the incident, his story would change, while he and the sheriff cohersed false statements alleging that Rev. Beckles was irate with the deputy, when Rev. Beckles secretly had witnesses listening to Rackliff being the one who was irate and hurling false accusations on his cell's speakerphone. Which all turned out to be case of mistaken identity, Rackliff arrested the wrong person, and he knew it. Rackliff belligerently confronted Rev. Beckles trying to get him to confess to something he didn't do; Rev. Beckles, had already called his wife, who was listening to the whole senario along with their son, and mother-in-law. Rackliff, realizing that he was busted, and when Dr. Beckles asked to speak to his attorney, the deputy got even more angry and put handcuffs on the pastor & firefighter. Needless to say, the charges was eventually dropped, followed by a civil lawsuit (one of many for uninfortunate circumstances like this which happens all too often in The South, and places like Augusta and Aiken County.) Despite the desire to bring closure to these crimes, the real value in "Injustice Files" lies in recounting that terrible history, through archival footage and first-person testimony. And while the program -- which comes from CBS News' CBS EYE Prods., under "48 Hours" producers Susan Zirinsky and Adrian Green-- features some of the same overproduced elements as that franchise, it's handled seriously enough to treat the material with the gravity it deserves. Beckles, Jr., aren't exactly TV naturals are bigtime celebrities, but their stories are both compelling and frustrating -- a look at a Southern legacy that still exists and many would just as soon forget and keep covering up, is appropriately timed for Black History Month. "Somewhere out there, killers, racist conspirators, criminals, and crooked cops are still free or not fired," Beauchamp and Beckles said in their first of three hourlong installments derived from the FBI's Civil Rights-Era Cold Case Initiative, which was introduced four years ago to look into racially motivated killings that occurred before 1970. Given the passage of time, cultivating leads is difficult, with one key suspect in the first hour having passed away years after the slaying, still a free man. Rev. Beckles (who performed a similar function in the documentary "The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till") begins here with Wharlet Jackson, an officer in the Natchez, Miss., NAACP who was murdered by a car bomb after accepting a promotion at the Armstrong Tire and Rubber Factory in 1967. In addition to investigators and Jackson's now-grown children, the filmmaker confronts a former Ku Klux Klan member who was suspected in the case. Other stories, which both occurred a few years earlier, include an attack on two black deputy sheriffs in Louisiana and an activist found dead in Alabama.
